Firstly, I am always asked common questions like What is Reflexology? How does it work? What are the benefits? Is reflexology the treatment for me? and What be found? What is the aftercare for reflexology? All these Questions, I have answered them myself!

The Legend of Reflexology Reflexology is a relaxing popular holistic treatment that works on reflex points on the soles, tops and sides of the feet or hands that are connected to corresponding areas throughout the body- the feet or hands is seen as a map of the body. The reflexology treatment has been around for thousands of years, starting in Egyptian times and had strong connections with the Chinese beliefs of treatments like yin and yang or acupuncture. Reflexologists work on the reflex points using specialised massaged techniques with their fingers and thumbs.
Reflexology Theory
The reflexology theory is known by applying pressure to the hands, feet and ears can send calming message from the peripheral nerves in these extremities to the central nervous system which then sends signals to the body to adjust the tension levels. When this stage happens it brings internal organs to a state of optimum functioning, it also enhances relaxation and increase blood supply that also can help bring nutrients and oxygen to cells and enhances waste removal. This affects the respiratory, circulatory, immune, neuropeptide and endocrine system in the body effectively and positively.
•Reflexology is referred to helping to rebalance the body by unblocking our energy pathways, and allowing time to repair itself. The theory involves reflexology as a way to release stress and help the body re-generate and heal itself. Reflexology also reduces muscle tension and cleanses the body of impurities and toxins that are harmful.
•This alternative treatment is found to be extremely effective when used alongside other holistic treatments such as acupuncture, osteopathy or light therapy. Imbalances in our bodies causes our energy pathways to become blocked which prevent the body from functioning effectively, these can include injury, stress, illness or disease.
•Reflexology treats the body holistically and by dividing the body into zones or lines of energy, where these points correspond with each organ, gland or system and that works with the central nervous system.
•Reflexology can help stress reduction, increase energy levels, improve circulation around the body, release of endorphins which provides pain relief where the body feels good hormones, feelings of deep relaxation, improving strength of the immune system, more efficient removal of toxins or impurities and lastly a sense that the whole body is better balanced.
How it works
The aftermath of reflexology is that is helps to stimulates the nerve endings which allow any energy blockages to become released; helping the body restore itself and repair anything that may be wrong within the body which may be unknown to the client. This improves the flow of energy and blood around the body. The treatment isn’t a method of treating or fixing, it’s a way of aiding in healing.
The treatment and practitioner only help to improve the body: they’re not the healer, the body is the healer as it heals and repairs itself. The human body responds to touch which encourages healing to occur. Reflexology doesn’t replace medical treatment and is used as an alternative treatment and complementary therapy. Reflexology can discover a range of information about the client from medical issues (example: migraines, asthma) past treatments (surgery) and recent issues that have either currently happening within the body or recently just happened through a past and present foot.
Benefits of Reflexology
The objectives to a reflexology treatment is mainly to make the client feel relaxed throughout the treatment helping the client to release any stress or tension. The objectives for the therapist is to make the client feel better after the treatment and to find out things about the client that the client may not know or the client may have not said during the consultation.

Reflexology the treatment for me
If you answered 'yes' to any of the benefits that you believe you need more off, than reflexology is properly the treatment for you. Reflexology can benefit everyone! However, everyone is different and therefore some people may need a few more course treatments than others who could benefit from just a one-off treatment. Some people will make reflexology one of their hobbies to have done as a way of managing their stress.
A reflexology session includes soaking your feet in warm, scented oil water, or warm cloth to the hands, and then a warm up session that promotes deep relaxing breathing and getting the client used to the feel on reflexology- It then goes into the reflexology routine which can be sensitive for some clients, however you can have reflexology on your hands or feet. After the routine, A relaxing foot and half-leg massage is lastly given by Katie Scott for further relaxation and gives you a small taster of what massaging treatments are like tailored to meet your needs. The treatment takes around 60minutes initially, and 45 minutes for a follow up appointment. What can be found Every person will experience a different outcome of reflexology, some people may have little imbalances, and others may have some or a lot that may need addressing over a long-term treatment plan. When a Therapist finds a particular area that has come up in Reflexology- They will not know the exact cause of why it has come up straight away. However several reasons can be the cause, and it's a matter of discussing these with the client until you find the most relevant ones. For instance, I remember when I was training to become a Reflexologist a student performed reflexology on me and my bladder came up several times, over the coming weeks and when I went back to the doctors I found out I had a water infection. Now this is just my own example of how I explain that reflexology works, until you see for yourself on yourself, or others you will never completely believe the theory. Therefore, I will list a few common corresponding area's of the body and what they COULD mean:
Spine- Back pain, bad posture
Eyes- Wear of glasses/contact lenses, strain of eyes (e.g: computer)
Bladder- Dehydration, water infection
Stomach- Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Just eaten- digestion of the food, Hungry where you haven't eaten
Head- Migraines, Headaches, Tension, Stress
Lungs- Smoker, asthma, chest infection, wheezing
